Science and the Afterlife

We all must (or should) face the question “What happens, if anything, after we die?” Religions, philosophers, and various prophets have all given their answers. In the last 400 years, we have discovered a vast amount of scientific knowledge. Within that knowledge, is there any information about afterlife or continued consciousness after physical death? The short answer is “yes.”  The somewhat longer answer will be revealed on Saturday, October 31st by Barry Bates. After over 50 years (gulp!) of metaphysical interest and study, his more recent interest has been focused on learning what we can understand about the afterlife as revealed through the scientific process.   A quick review of how the scientific process works, how that applies to afterlife studies and the results of some of those studies will be the gist of the talk. To be fair, some of the skepticism that abounds will be presented and evaluated. There will be time for some questions; he may even provide some answers!
